Renormalization of One-Dimensional Avalanche Models

چکیده
We investigate a renormalization group (RG) scheme for avalanche automata introduced recently by Pietronero et al. to explain universality in self-organized criticality models. Using a modified approach, we construct exact RG equations Ibr a one-dimensional model whose detailed dynamics is exactly solvable. We then investigate in detail the effect of approximations inherent in a practical implementation of the RG translbrmation where exact dynamical inlbrmation is unavaihtble.

Time-Dependent Real-Space Renormalization Group Method
In this paper, using the tight-binding model, we extend the real-space renormalization group method to time-dependent Hamiltonians. We drive the time-dependent recursion relations for the renormalized tight-binding Hamiltonian by decimating selective sites of lattice iteratively. The formalism is then used for the calculation of the local density of electronic states for a one dimensional quant...
متن کاملAvalanch Zoning Using Artificial Neural Network (MLP) Models (Case Study: Mountainous Area of North Alborz Province)
Avalanche is one of a variety of mass movements that refers to the rapid movement of masses of snow in the direction of slope gradient. Avalanche drives in addition to snow, rock and soil and plant and damage the communication lines, buildings and power lines on the way to the avalanche. In this research, domains with avalanche potential were zoned using artificial neural network model (MLP). I...
متن کاملDriven particle in a random landscape: disorder correlator, avalanche distribution, and extreme value statistics of records.
We review how the renormalized force correlator Delta(micro) , the function computed in the functional renormalization-group (RG) field theory, can be measured directly in numerics and experiments on the dynamics of elastic manifolds in the presence of pinning disorder. We show how this function can be computed analytically for a particle dragged through a one-dimensional random-force landscape...
متن کاملRandom–Field Ising Models of Hysteresis
This is a review article of our work on hysteresis, avalanches, and criticality. We provide an extensive introduction to scaling and renormalization–group ideas, and discuss analytical and numerical results for size distributions, correlation functions, magnetization, avalanche durations and average avalanche shapes, and power spectra. We focus here on applications to magnetic Barkhausen noise,...
متن کاملSelf-organized branching processes: Avalanche models with dissipation.
We explore, in the mean-field approximation, robustness with respect to dissipation of self-organized criticality in sandpile models. To this end, we generalize a recently introduced self-organized branching process, and show that the model self-organizes not into a critical state but rather into a subcritical state: when dissipation is present, the dynamical fixed point does not coincide with ...
